We get a lot of call for clogged laundry lines. The consumer thinks it’s lent hairs from the washing machine. Believe it or not most of the time the clog is food. Food? Yes! See, the two inch laundry line ties into the two inch kitchen line before the kitchen line ties into the four inch sewer lateral under the house. How does a plumber determine where the clog is? The plumber runs water in the kitchen sink and if water is backing up in the laundry sink, then he knows it’s the kitchen sewer line. The water is taking the less resistance for drainage. The laundry sink in the garage is lower than the kitchen sink, and that is why the laundry sink is backing up. Knowing this, the plumber needs to cable the kitchen line instead of the laundry line. Most homes are set up this way. Once in a while, the laundry sink is at the same elevation as the kitchen sink, and both sinks are backed up at the same time. Knowing the laundry ties into the kitchen line, the plumber is going to cable the kitchen line.
Cabling does not remove food or the “clog.” Cabling is like a blender. Cable chops up the clog, but does not push the clog down the drain. The cable only gives flow in the sewer line. The cable acts like a blender, that's all. The pressure from the kitchen faucet is not going to flush out the sewer line. To bring the two inch back to its full capacity the sewer line needs to be cabled and then scour jetted, which removes all the food, lent, or whatever else that is left in the kitchen line.

We just did installed some cages for backflow preventers because someone tried to steal one. When the cost of gas goes up, so goes the cost of metal too. Thieves can get good money at the scrap yard for these, all brass, backflow preventers.
If you're in the need for a backflow preventer cage, please call Done-Right! Rooter and Plumbing at (888) 379-0166 today.
